How do I apply 2GUARD CLEAR?

Preparation is the key to 2GUARD CLEAR Success!!

  1. Clean the surface with 2GUARD Prep Cleaner or degreaser and wash off the cleaner with water. Make sure there is no loose material or dirt on the surface.
  2. Make sure that the surface that you are going to apply 2GUARD CLEAR is dry.
  3. Apply 2GUARD CLEAR with correct applicator. (Lint free cloth, Synthetic Roller or Spray Unit).
  4. Apply 2GUARD CLEAR thinly, no need to put it on thick, about 1.5 mils.
  5. After application, allow surface to dry. Surface should be dry to the touch in less than 5 minutes.

How do I apply 2GUARD COLOR?

  1. Clean the surface with 2GUARD Prep Cleaner or degreaser and wash off the cleaner with water. Make sure there is no loose material or dirt on the surface.
  2. Make sure that the surface for application is completely dry.
  3. Mask adjacent areas.
  4. Shake and stir 2GUARD COLOR before application.
  5. Spray apply 2GUARD COLOR with Spray Unit.
  6. 2GUARD COLOR needs to be applied approximately 1.5 -2.0 mils thick.
  7. After application, allow surface to dry. Surface should be dry to the touch in approximately 5 minutes.
  8. Apply 2GUARD CLEAR after 2GUARD COLOR is dry to the touch.


How Do I know if 2GUARD CLEAR will work on the surface?

A great way to determine if 2GUARD CLEAR will work is to do a wet test. If you wet the surface and the color comes back, that is the look the 2GUARD CLEAR will give provide and maintain. If the surface color does not come back, the pigment in the paint is too far gone for 2GUARD CLEAR.


How do I cleanup 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

To clean your hands use soap and water.  To clean your equipment use lacquer thinner or acetone.


When can I apply 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR on newly painted surfaces?

On newly painted surfaces, we recommend that you wait 28 days for the paint to cure. Please check the label of your paint for exact curing days. Once the paint has cured, you can apply 2GUARD CLEAR.


Can I paint over 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

Yes, if you decide that you want to change colors. Clean the surface and paint right over 2GUARD CLEAR or 2GUARD COLOR. For full protection of the new coat, reapply 2GUARD CLEAR.


Where can I use 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR can be applied on painted and unpainted surfaces of metals, plastics, fiberglass, woods, brick/block and other materials to protect against any number of harsh environments, including UV attack, water (fresh and salt) and corrosive chemicals.  


What is the shelf life of 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

The shelf life of 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR is indefinite when sealed in its container and stored in a dry place.


How much 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR do I need?

A little 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR goes a long way.

One gallon of 2GUARD CLEAR covers approximately 1200 sq ft.

One gallon of 2GUARD COLOR covers approximately 900 sq ft depending on the surface substrate.


At what temperature should I apply 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR can be applied in temperatures ranging from 40 degrees to 100 degrees.  If applying to metal, the temperature of the metal is important.  At 65°F air temperature, the metal can reach over 100°F in direct sunlight while in the shade the metal will be around 75°F.  DO NOT APPLY 2GUARD CLEAR or 2GUARD COLOR IF THE METAL TEMPERATURE IS ABOVE 125°F. 

*** Tip – If the surface to too hot to the touch, 2GUARD should not be applied.


Are there any situations that 2GUARD CLEAR cannot help?

2GUARD CLEAR cannot help surfaces that have already been too damaged to be restored. If the painted surface has very little pigment remaining, 2GUARD CLEAR cannot help restore the color. The surface needs 2GUARD COLOR. The best way to determine the proper product to use is to test a small area before you proceed.


How long does 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR take to dry?

2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR should be dry to the touch within five (5) minutes. 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR will be fully cured within 28 days. 


Do I need to dilute 2GUARD CLEAR or 2GUARD COLOR or mix it with other chemicals?

One great thing about 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR is that they are single component products and can be used right out of the can. No mixing or diluting is needed. Just fully shake/mix the can and apply directly to the surface.


What should I use to clean the surface before I use 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

Since cleaning the surface is one of the most important steps in achieving success for 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR, we recommend using our 2GUARD Prep Cleaner. It’s the perfect way to make sure your surface is clean to ensure success.


How do I remove 2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR?

2GUARD CLEAR and 2GUARD COLOR can be removed with Xylene. Once you have removed the 2GUARD CLEAR or 2GUARD COLOR. Use 2GUARD Prep Cleaner to clean the surface. Wash with water, allow to dry and apply 2GUARD CLEAR or 2GUARD COLOR.


How can I achieve uniformity on badly corroded or rusted surfaces?

To achieve a uniform finish a primer may be needed. Watch the curing time on the primer, before applying 2GUARD. Contact 2GUARD for the correct suggested primer for your project.
